Dr. Henry Pettiegrew II is a visionary leader dedicated to revitalizing education in our community. Appointed by the State of Ohio as CEO and later named Superintendent by the local school board, Dr. Pettiegrew has led a transformative journey that has resulted in significant academic improvements since 2019. Under his leadership, East Cleveland City Schools have seen increased graduation rates, higher proficiency scores in key subject areas, and the successful implementation of innovative instructional strategies that have closed achievement gaps.
With a proven track record in organizational systems, curriculum development, and professional growth for educators, Dr. Pettiegrew brings a hands-on, results-driven approach to instructional leadership. His efforts focus on empowering teachers, building leadership capacity, and ensuring equity in every classroom.
Dr. Pettiegrew holds a Ph.D. in Urban Education from Cleveland State University and has served as a consultant and trainer for school districts and organizations through his business, The LEAD School. Passionate about breaking down barriers in traditional school systems, he is committed to developing future-ready learners and leaders.
Guided by the principles of excellence, empowerment, equity, and empathy, Dr. Pettiegrew is on a mission to actualize the transformative power of education for every student. Together, we are building a brighter, stronger future for East Cleveland!
